Translations of Mind Garden products are provided as a professional courtesy.  We currently offer products in over sixty-five languages, and new translations are constantly being added. The availability and quality of each instrument in specific languages differs because of limited resources, copyright issues, and other issues beyond our control.  We are working to bring you these instruments in as many languages, and as conveniently as possible.

Please note that we offer no warranty or assurance of quality for these translations.  The translations listed on this page are of varying quality; many are done by individual researchers, and we are not necessarily familiar with the particular language or dialect.  Some of these translations are partial, and typically do not have validation data. Basically, we try to provide you with whatever is available to facilitate your work.

Listed below are products that are available in paper format by mail only. For our complete list of translations, please go to our main translations page.

How to obtain permission to translate

If you do not see the language you need on our list of available translations, and you wish to modify or translate an instrument, you will need to complete and purchase a translation agreement (no matter how few items of an instrument you are translating). If so, you will need to sign a translation agreement with Mind Garden before you begin. There are four steps in this process.

To obtain permission to translate:

  1. Open a new window to return to the product page of the instrument you wish to translate. Since you will be using the instrument, we require that you purchase a License to Reproduce/Administer the instrument (minimum 50, but you should purchase the appropriate number for your study/survey, one per intended administration). For the GEFT we require a purchase of at least two packets of booklets.
  2. Complete the Translation Agreement Request by clicking here (opens in new window). Mind Garden will review your request and determine if you have agreed to the conditions for a translation (Don't worry, we reject very few requests). You will receive a pdf file of the translation agreement (allow at least 5 business days for this).
  3. When you receive the translation agreement, please review it and print two copies, sign them and return both copies to Mind Garden. We will sign both and send one back to you. You may then proceed with your translation.

Please note the two key concepts in the translation agreement: 1) that you will send your translation to Mind Garden and Mind Garden will be able to share your translation with other customers and researchers, and 2) you are signing over all rights (known as subsidiary rights) to your translation to the authors and copyright holder of the work.

You will have 60 days from when we sign the agreement to send Mind Garden your translation. Translations must be sent as a printed copy via mail and a MS Word file and an Adobe PDF file via email. It is essential that we receive your translation, so if you cannot meet the 60-day commitment, please let us know.
